Services for kitchens, tearooms and guesthouse tea trays

We pack single-origin rooibos, honeybush, chamomile and mint by weight, fill refill pouches and glass jars to order, and build sampler tins for anyone still deciding which blend earns shelf space. Harvest notes and brewing ratios travel with every listing, and standing orders for guesthouses are packed in the same small runs as everything else.

What tearooms and regulars say after a few reorders

Ratings come from buyers who actually brewed the leaf, not from a launch week. Guesthouses tend to write in after their second or third tray order, once they know how a blend holds up across a full season of service.

We run twelve rooms and go through a lot of evening tea. The honeybush and chamomile blend is the one guests ask about by name, and it still tastes the same tin to tin. That consistency is the whole reason we stopped shopping around.

Started with the five-tin set to figure out what I actually drink, then moved to the rooibos refill pouch. The harvest note on the listing told me which lot I was getting, which matters when you reorder the same thing every few weeks.

We keep the mint infusion and the house spice mix on the counter. Orders get packed the same day if we make the courier cutoff, and the note field in the cart is where we put our delivery window. Small thing, but it saves a phone call every week.

What we actually do for your kitchen or tea tray

Every service here comes down to the same packing room in Cape Town: leaf weighed to the gram, tins labelled by hand, and a note field on the cart for grind, delivery windows and gift messages. Below is what that looks like in practice, including where each option stops being the right fit.

  • Loose leaf by weight. Single-origin rooibos and honeybush sold in 100 g, 250 g and 500 g lots. Long-cut leaf, not dust, so you need a strainer. Harvest month and drying method sit on each listing.

  • Refill pouches and glass jars. Pouches are sized to top up a 500 ml jar without spillage. Jars arrive hand-labelled. If you reorder the same three blends, the subscription keeps the grind and the label consistent.

  • Guesthouse and tearoom supply. Bulk blends for evening trays and breakfast service, packed in the quantities you actually go through in a week. Seasonal lots sell out and restock in small runs, so we confirm availability before packing.

  • Spice mixes and brewing notes. House mixes built to sit alongside the caffeine-free blends. Ratios are printed on the tin base: typically 3 g per 250 ml at 95°C for four minutes. Iced versions need a longer steep, not more leaf.

Not sure which format suits your shelf? Start with the five-tin tasting set, or tell us your weekly pour and we will suggest a pack size.

Orders over the set basket value ship free nationwide. Pick a delivery slot at checkout and we pack the same day before the courier cutoff. Stock turns weekly, so if a lot is out, the next small run is usually close behind.

Questions we get before a first order

Most of these come up in the cart note field or over the packing table. Short answers below, and the fuller version sits on the help page.

Read the full help notes

How much leaf do I use per cup?

Roughly 3 g to 250 ml for the rooibos and honeybush blends, closer to 2 g for chamomile and mint. Every listing carries its own ratio and steep time, since the long-cut leaf and the finer spice mix behave differently in a strainer.

Do you pack guesthouse orders differently?

Yes. Tearooms and guesthouses usually take the larger refill pouches plus a set of labelled tins for the tray. Tell us how many rooms you are covering in the cart note and we will split the packing so each tray gets its own labelled container.

What happens when a seasonal lot sells out?

Stock turns weekly and small runs go fast. When a harvest lot runs out we mark it on the listing rather than substituting silently, and the next picking arrives in a limited batch. If you are reordering a specific lot, note the harvest month so we can match it.

Can I set a delivery window or add a gift message?

The cart keeps a running note field for exactly that: grind preference, a delivery window, or a message to go in the box. Orders packed before the courier cutoff leave the same day. Anything unclear about a delivery, reach us at info@smileytimeherbal.com or 054-400-3154.
